Tapping into our Innate Beautyby Jill DeDominicis
Interview with Naturally Spiritual

My desire is to help people to see how beautiful they truly are,” Angela Law said. “And [by] what ever means I can do that I will.” Law is the founder of Naturally Spiritual, a company that specializes in adorning the body and soul with beautiful jewelry and accessories. After finding herself burned out and disillusioned by the grueling hours in the software engineering industry, Law felt a calling for a new line of work that she could feel passionate about and find great value in. “Naturally Spiritual spawned out of another business I wanted to do, called InsideSpirit,” Law explained. “But my overall goal is to provide people with opportunities to connect with themselves on a deeper level, whether it is through scent, jewelry, music, books, events/workshops, services, talk radio, it doesn't really matter. I want to help people weed through the vast amount of stuff that is out there and get to the heart of it all.”

Although the site mainly offers jewelry at the moment, with musical selections being added by neofolk band Ostara, Law's plan is for Naturally Spiritual to be a sort of holistic center. “I would like my site to be known for good products and information about the spiritual realm. I'd like to help people navigate the self help and psychic industry to find good sources of information and services that really can help them grow and be happier in life.”

The majority of jewelry offered on the site comes from Crystal Earth Studios, a small company in India. Law deals directly with the owner there, who has been in the industry for 15 years and hand picks the individual stones as well as designs the jewelry. Each piece is made of .925 sterling silver and beautiful semi-precious stones, ranging in everything from moonstone to lapis. “I think the unique and stylish designs, elegance and pricing makes [our products] different,” Law said. “I have been in the spiritual arena for a while now and haven't found this level of jewelry. The styles are something you can wear everyday, whether it is for work or for a casual night out. [The jewelry] can help be a reminder to ground yourself to your spiritual center no matter where you are.”

While certainly a business that requires profit to stay afloat, for Law it is more about what this line of work offers her on a deeper level. What makes it so rewarding for her? “Purely, selfish reasons–because I enjoy it and it allows me to be who I am. It can be tough to find a means that allows you to bring your own passions, desires, hopes and dreams for other people out, to find a way to channel that into something that works and allows you to make money and survive in the type of world we have today.

[The business] isn't really about getting people to buy jewelry so much. It is about helping people to see how special, beautiful, and magnificent they are; getting them to tap into that creative center that allows their light to shine through in whatever avenues they like … To help people to gain access to their own creative nature will allow us to create new and better solutions for tomorrow's world. I believe [this is] part of my role in life.”

When asked what we might gain in the act of self-adornment, Law answers that the true spirit of adornment travels beyond the physical and superficial, penetrating to our very core. It is about individuality and divulging the self, about the freedom to be whomever we choose. She expounded, “It is not so much the act of adorning that will allow you to gain. It is the act of tapping into your creative center and allowing yourself to decide how you want to express yourself. If it happens to be through adorning yourself with jewelry, clothing or what have you, that is great. Seeing people adorn themselves with what comes from within, instead of [listening to] what society, media, corporations or the fashion police tell them they should be is what I wish to truly inspire. The more we allow ourselves to see and express our own self in the way we see fit, the more we will accept others and see the beauty they truly radiate.”
